Potted History
1962 - 2011
Warrington Speakers Club was formed by a group of Warrington based businesses
Do you realise that there’s a club on your door step able to help you
make powerful business presentations, and It’s non profit making
I’m John Hill and I have been asked to give a summary of Warrington Speakers Club (WSC).
Firstly I’d like to invite you ……to one of our meetings
to find out how WSC ……may benefit you.
There’s no obligation and you won’t be expected to speak, but you can if you wish.
WSC was formed nearly 50 years ago,
when a founder member, who owned a small business, won a large contract.
At his first site meeting, with management, main contractor and a dour Consultant, ....................it didn’t go well, ......... a cringe worthy experience.
He felt sick, very inadequate and ...... was out of his depth.
But being a determined individual, vowed that he’d take control and
project a powerful image at future meetings.
So with a few friends from other small business WSC was formed.
The club grew and forged links with other speaking clubs.
Today it continues to maintain links with businesses ….large and small ….
enjoying an established net work of useful contacts.
WSC is an independent, educational and very social organisation,
The main focus is education, the club specialises in drawing out the hidden speaker with in all of us. A programme has been designed to develop your own unique style, giving you confidence to speak up .
Speaking skills are improved with practice, coaching, evaluation and observation of speaking techniques all in a relaxed atmosphere.
Business presentations, wedding speeches, public addresses may be rehearsed with advice given.
The main point to remember is we do this for fun and enjoyment.
You’ll get a great deal of satisfaction, confidence and reward by developing your speaking skills.
The clubs monthly programme is varied. Often times in February the Warrington deputy mayor will visit,
Yes even public servants enjoy a refresher session prior to taking on a major public speaking role such as the mayor.
The club focuses on all facets of public speaking and even covers business presentation skills,
Definitely giving you a competitive edge in a business to business environment.
Where do we meet? The village hotel, centre Park, Warrington, second Thursday of the month. We meet 7.15pm for a meal at 7.30 pm and then enjoy the evenings programme.
If your intention’s to improve and develop communication skills, to enhance business growth and enhance your social life, you’d be very welcome to take the opportunity to visit WSC
